Kano Lawmaker Shuwaki Defects from APC to PDP

Sule Lawan Shuwaki, who represents Tudun Wada Constituency in the Kano State House of Assembly, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). His resignation letter was presented during a plenary session on Monday, read by the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt.

Hon. Jibril Ismail Falgore. In his letter, Shuwaki stated that his decision was made after extensive consultations with political associates, supporters, and family, alongside personal reflection.

He expressed gratitude to the APC leadership for their support during his time with the party but indicated a desire to pursue a new political direction based on personal convictions. Although he had joined the PDP several months prior, the formal presentation of his resignation was delayed due to ongoing consultations.

Following the resignation, the Kano State House of Assembly now consists of 37 APC members, two from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), and one from the PDP. Falgore noted that Shuwaki's resignation letter had been received about two months earlier but was only presented after confirming his firm decision to leave the APC.
