Gwarzo Condemns Killing of Political Commentator in Kano

Aminu Gwarzo, the Kano State governorship candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress, condemned the killing of social media critic Ibrahim Dan Shagamu in the Gaida area of Kumbotso Local Government Area. Gwarzo described the murder as “heinous, barbaric and totally condemnable,” urging security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible.

Dan Shagamu was attacked and killed inside his residence on Monday night, raising concerns about the safety of citizens expressing political opinions online. The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects related to the incident, which occurred around 11:30 PM after a report from the Vigilante Group Commander.

Gwarzo stressed that political disagreements should not lead to violence and expressed condolences to Dan Shagamu's family. He called for strengthened security measures in Kano State and urged residents to avoid reprisal attacks, instead providing information to assist in the investigation.
