Kwankwaso Demands Investigation into Dan Shagamu's Death

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 elections, expressed deep concern over the assassination of Dan Shagamu, a prominent political commentator based in Kano. In a statement posted on his verified X (formerly Twitter) page on September 9, Kwankwaso described the incident as deeply troubling, revealing that Shagamu's body was discovered in a pool of blood at his residence following a horrific attack.

He urged the government to establish an investigative panel to thoroughly examine the circumstances surrounding Shagamu's death and ensure that those responsible are identified and prosecuted. Furthermore, Kwankwaso called on both state and federal governments to implement measures to protect opposition voices from attacks and intimidation, emphasizing the need for the Nigerian Constitution's guarantee of freedom of expression to safeguard citizens from harm.

He also extended his condolences to Shagamu's family, friends, and followers, praying for the deceased's peace.
