Kano Police Arrest 244 Suspects, Recover Weapons and Drugs

On Sunday, the Commissioner of Police in Kano, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, announced the arrest of 244 suspects during a press briefing at the command’s headquarters. The arrests were a result of intelligence-led operations, 24-hour patrols, targeted raids, and collaboration with communities and other security agencies.

Among those arrested were eight suspected kidnappers, 28 armed robbers, seven vehicle thieves, 19 drug dealers, and 172 suspected thugs. Bakori noted that 117 suspected thugs were apprehended in coordinated operations at identified criminal flashpoints across the Kano metropolis, contributing to enhanced security in areas such as Dala, Kofar Nasarawa, Sheka, and Hotoro.

The police are intensifying operations in Bachirawa, Gobirawa, and Tudun Fulani to dismantle remaining thuggery networks. Surveillance along the state’s borders has led to the arrest of suspected kidnappers and gunrunners, along with the recovery of firearms and ammunition.

Notably, on August 13, police intercepted a suspected gunrunner at Rijiya Zaiki Motor Park, recovering a pistol and additional firearms.
