Kano Police Arrest 244 Suspects, Seize Firearms and Drugs

In August 2026, the Kano State Police Command arrested 244 suspects involved in various major crimes, including eight suspected kidnappers, 28 armed robbers, and 19 drug dealers. Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, announced these developments during a press briefing at the Police Headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

He credited the reduction in major crimes to proactive policing, intelligence-led operations, and community engagement. The police maintained 24-hour patrols and targeted raids, particularly in volatile areas such as Dala and Kofar Nassarawa.

Significant recoveries included three pistols and 65 rounds of ammunition linked to a gun-running syndicate, with operations starting on August 13. Additionally, on August 25, police intercepted a vehicle carrying 13,837 sachets of Tramadol, arresting the driver, Saminu Samaila.

Ongoing investigations continue to address thuggery and drug trafficking in the region.
