NHRC in Kano State Receives 3,019 Human Rights Complaints in 2025

The NHRC in Kano State disclosed receiving 3,019 human rights complaints in 2025, with 2,276 cases completed and 743 ongoing. The complaints ranged from child abandonment to gender-based violence and neglect of parental responsibilities.

The NHRC conducted data collection exercises to assess security concerns, including an influx of migrants. Shehu Abdullahi, the state coordinator, highlighted ongoing awareness campaigns through media outlets and traditional rulers to promote human rights.

The NHRC also emphasized collaboration with key stakeholders to protect human rights in the state.
