Kano State to Boost Park Revenue to N90m via Partnerships

The Kano State Government announced that its annual revenue from four restored public parks is projected to rise from N5 million to N90 million due to new management arrangements implemented through a public-private partnership scheme. Dr Dahir M. Hashim, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Environment and Climate Change, revealed this information while announcing the handover of the parks to private operators.
The parks, which previously generated about N5 million annually, are expected to see a 1,700 percent increase in revenue. The operators have already made payments to the state government, with some covering fees for two to three years in advance.
The parks include Audu Bako Park (now Kano First Food Court), Nassarawa Park (Gida Gida Children’s Park), Kakuri Park (AKY Diplomatic Garden), and Green Park (AKY Elderly Garden). The management fees are set at N15 million for Audu Bako Park, N30 million for Nassarawa Park, N20 million for Kakuri Park, and N25 million for Green Park.
This initiative aligns with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s vision for sustainable urban development.
