Kano State Urges Cleaner Manufacturing Practices to Reduce Emissions

Kano State is advocating for the industrial sector to embrace cleaner manufacturing practices to mitigate carbon emissions and environmental pollution. During a policy dialogue organized by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), stakeholders emphasized the importance of adopting cleaner energy and efficient production methods to reduce environmental impact.

Ali Madugu, Vice Chairman of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, highlighted the significance of implementing energy-efficient systems to reduce carbon emissions and conserve resources for sustainable growth. Mahmud Bala, Director of Industries in the Kano State Ministry of Commerce, described the initiative as a crucial step towards improving energy management and minimizing environmental impact.

Oluwasegun Osidip, the National Technical Coordinator of the GEF-UNIDO IEE RECP program, emphasized the growing importance of cleaner production practices in the global market to meet stringent environmental standards.
