Kano Set to Become Nigeria's Tin Mining Hub

Hamza Safiyanu, the Kano State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Resources, announced on Wednesday that efforts are underway to establish Kano as a major hub for tin mining in Nigeria. This statement was made during an interview with Blueprint Newspaper, where he discussed the achievements of the newly created ministry under Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's administration.

The ministry's role is to regulate the mining sector and create policies that foster an enabling environment for investment. Safiyanu highlighted that Kano is rich in various solid minerals, including tin, columbite, silica sand, and limestone, which require proper management.

He emphasized the state's goal to become the primary exporter of tin, noting that it produces the best quality tin in Nigeria. The commissioner reported increased interest from investors conducting surveys and paperwork, indicating a positive trend for the mining sector in Kano.
