Katsina and British Council Train 2,500 Teachers in English

The Katsina State Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, in collaboration with the British Council, has launched a capacity-building program aimed at training 2,500 individuals, including 2,000 teachers and 500 principals, in English proficiency and instructional leadership. Participants were selected from the three senatorial zones of Katsina State.

Malam Kabir Dodo, the Katsina State Coordinator for Special Teacher Development Training, stated that this initiative is part of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda’s commitment to enhancing the education sector. The program's objectives include improving learning outcomes, strengthening classroom instruction quality, and enhancing school leadership.

It also seeks to address the issue of out-of-school children and create more functional school environments. Mr. Daniel Fwanshishakh, Head of English and Education at the British Council, emphasized the careful selection of participants to lead this training and share their knowledge with others.

Ahmad Sani from the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) expressed concerns about students' English proficiency and urged participants to apply their training effectively.
