DSS Neutralizes Bandit Kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki in Katsina

An intelligence-led operation by the Department of State Services (DSS) resulted in the death of over 60 suspected bandits in Bakori Local Government Area (LGA) of Katsina State. Among those neutralized was notorious bandit kingpin Idi Abasu Aiki, believed to be responsible for numerous attacks across Katsina and Zamfara states.

The operation, which involved members of the Katsina State Community Vigilantes and specially trained hunters, was a response to a reprisal mission by over 200 armed bandits targeting communities supporting the Community Watch Corps. The DSS had prepared with “water-tight intelligence plans,” leading to the bandits walking into a trap.

The operation resulted in the deaths of Idi Abasu Aiki and 14 of his top commanders, while four vigilantes were killed during the confrontation. Additionally, a clearance operation was conducted to recover weapons and other items abandoned by the bandits.
