Katsina University Seeks Staff Recruitment Due to Shortages

Umaru Musa Yar'adua University in Katsina State is grappling with staff shortages impacting its academic programs. During the institution's 14th convocation ceremony, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Shehu Salihu Muhammad, highlighted the urgent need for recruitment to address the deficiency and meet accreditation standards set by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

The university has experienced significant student enrollment growth and program expansions, but its academic staff strength has not kept pace, leading to pressure on faculty and affecting program quality. The Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of recruiting qualified lecturers and researchers to stabilize programs, enhance teaching, supervision, and sustain academic standards.

The university also noted recent improvements in student welfare, including water supply enhancements on campus. The call for additional academic staff, especially for accredited programs, underscores the university's commitment to maintaining academic excellence and addressing manpower gaps.
