KCPC Seizes 419 Cartons of Expired Pesticides in Kano

The Kano State Consumer Protection Council (KCPC) seized approximately 419 cartons of expired pesticides from a facility located along Club Road in Kano. This action was taken following intelligence received by the council indicating that the expired pesticides were being stockpiled at the site, allegedly for reprocessing and subsequent return to the market.

Jamilu Mustapha Yakasai, the Director of Public Enlightenment for the KCPC, stated that officials conducted the operation based on this intelligence. The seized pesticides had exceeded their expiry dates, raising significant concerns regarding the potential health risks they could pose to consumers if they were allowed back into the market.

The KCPC has sealed the premises where the expired products were stored and is awaiting the conclusion of investigations and the initiation of appropriate legal actions. Dr Ibrahim Garba Muhammad, the KCPC Chairman, urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspected expired, adulterated, or unsafe products to the council.
