Kebbi Senator Maidoki Defects to ADC Amid APC Crisis

Senator Garba Musa Maidoki, representing Kebbi South, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This decision stems from ongoing internal conflicts within the APC, particularly following the recent primaries in Kebbi State.

Maidoki's letter, addressed to the Senate President during a plenary session on Tuesday, cited extensive consultations with his constituents as a trigger for his departure. He expressed that the unresolved issues within the APC have led to a protracted crisis, particularly concerning the primaries.

The Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, urged Maidoki to reconsider his decision and allow for reconciliation within the APC, arguing that the party's issues could be resolved internally. However, Maidoki rejected this intervention, asserting that his decision was final.

His exit is part of a trend of defections from the APC to the ADC, which is positioning itself as an alternative for politicians dissatisfied with the ruling party's internal processes ahead of the 2027 general elections.
