ADC Aspirant Abubakar Shehu Threatens Resignation Over Injustice

Abubakar Shehu, an aspirant for the ADC in Kebbi State, expressed his intention to resign from the party over perceived injustices during the primary elections. He described the handling of the primaries by the state party leadership as an "open robbery." During a press briefing in Birnin Kebbi, Shehu explained that the primary elections were disrupted when officials abruptly ordered the counting process to stop, despite his opponent lagging far behind in votes already counted.

He characterized the primary election as a sham and a direct affront to democracy. Shehu criticized the party leadership for failing to provide young people with genuine opportunities to participate in democratic elections.

He further alleged that delegates were queuing when the counting was suddenly halted, and the exercise was resumed later, leading to the declaration of a winner by party leaders without proper justification. Shehu stated he was strongly considering leaving the ADC due to a lack of confidence in the party's dispute resolution mechanisms and confirmed ongoing consultations with relevant political stakeholders regarding his final decision.
