Kebbi Community Appeals to Tinubu Over Halted Mining Activities Impacting Livelihoods

The Libata community in Kebbi State wrote an open letter to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu seeking intervention in the halt of mining activities at a lithium mining site operated by Three Crown Mines Limited. The community, through the Libata Development Committee Cooperatives Society, expressed concerns over the economic and social stagnation caused by the site's closure due to an industrial dispute lasting a year.

The community highlighted the impact on local livelihoods and the plight of unemployed youth dependent on the mining company. They blamed the crisis on legal issues involving rival mining firms.

The letter appealed for urgent action to resolve the situation and restore economic development in the area.
