Kebbi PDP Divided Over Support for Governor Idris

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kebbi State is experiencing a split regarding support for the 2027 governorship election. A faction of prominent party stakeholders, led by former Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen Ishaya Bamaiyi (retd.), publicly endorsed the re-election of Governor Nasir Idris of the All Progressives Congress during a gathering in Birnin Kebbi.

Bamaiyi cited Idris' performance and commitment to infrastructural development as reasons for their support. Despite this endorsement, the Kebbi State PDP leadership, represented by Chairman Usman Suru, rejected the notion that the party had endorsed Idris or the APC, asserting the party's unity and commitment to its candidates.

Suru urged party members to disregard rumors of a shift towards supporting the APC, emphasizing that the PDP remains focused on its political platform and candidates across local government areas and federal constituencies.
