PDP Faction Denies Endorsement of Gov Nasir Idris

Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, the factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has publicly disowned a meeting that allegedly endorsed Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for the upcoming 2027 elections. In response to inquiries, Turaki, who is a former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, stated, “we are not aware of the meeting.” Reports indicated that the meeting involved former minister Buhari Bala and General Ishaya Bamayi (Rtd), who were said to have facilitated discussions leading to a resolution in support of the Idris administration for the 2027 elections.

However, Turaki emphasized that his faction had no knowledge of the gathering and could not endorse any resolutions made there. This incident highlights ongoing factional divisions within the PDP as the party gears up for the 2027 general elections, with neither the Nyesom Wike nor the Turaki-led faction having publicly announced their governorship candidate for Kebbi State.
