Kenneth Okonkwo Withdraws Support for Atiku Abubakar

Kenneth Okonkwo, a Nollywood actor and politician, has officially withdrawn his support for Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Okonkwo's decision is rooted in the continuous marginalization of the South-East geopolitical zone in Nigeria.

He made this announcement following a statement from the ADC's national public secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, which confirmed the party's arrangement that excludes the South-East from the top two executive positions in the 2027 general elections. Okonkwo highlighted that the South-East has not produced a president or vice president since 1999, calling this an "unpardonable injustice" against the people of the region.

He stressed that the ADC's founder, Ralph Nwosu, should not sacrifice the leadership of the party in 2025, which would further marginalize the South-East. Okonkwo maintained that he would not support any presidential ticket that fails to include a candidate from the South-East.
