Atiku Abubakar Appoints Kenneth Okonkwo as Spokesperson

Atiku Abubakar appointed Kenneth Okonkwo as the spokesperson for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in a statement released on Thursday. Okonkwo, a chieftain of the ADC and a former actor, expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him and described the appointment as a reflection of Atiku's leadership style.

He emphasized the importance of dialogue to address the challenges posed by the Electoral Act of 2026, particularly concerning the interests of the South East region. Okonkwo acknowledged the support of Dr.

Kashim Imam, former ADC National Chairman, Ralph Nwosu, and Dr. Eken Onwuka, who are key figures in strengthening the party ahead of the 2027 elections.

He also criticized the ADC's decision to select a candidate from the South South for the vice presidential position, warning that it could worsen the marginalization of the South East in national politics. The ADC had previously chosen former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi as Atiku's running mate for the 2027 presidential election.
