KFN Launches Nigerian Karate League and New Committees

The Board of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN), led by President Dr Chukwudi Dimkpa, convened on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Rooftop Conference Hall, Check-Inn Hotel, Wuse II, Abuja, to approve the establishment of a Nigerian Karate League. The Board formed several committees to enhance the sport's administration, appointing Florrie Omueti as Chairman of the Marketing, Sponsorship, Partnership and Finance Committee, Zainab Saleh as head of the Organising, Competition and Welfare Committee, and Bashari Maizari as Chairman of the Ethics and Disciplinary Committee.

Other appointments included Oluwasogo Ogunleye for the Youth, School Sports and Women Committee, James Aina for the Technical Committee, and Olusegun Akinola for the Nigeria Karate Referee Commission. The Board reinstated Dave Jegede as Technical Director and appointed Ohis Asein as Head of Media.

The KFN also approved Nigeria's participation in the UFAK African Championship in Algeria from September 6 to 13, 2026, and ratified the notification of leadership changes to the World Karate Federation and Union of African Karate Federations.
