Nigeria Inaugurates Anti-Doping Centre Technical Board

The Federal Government of Nigeria inaugurated the Technical Board of the Nigeria Anti-Doping Centre (NADC) in Abuja, marking a significant commitment to promoting integrity and fairness in sports. The board, headed by Rashe Olanrewaju Kazeem, includes Mainasara Illo as the executive secretary and Sen. Georg Akum, who described the event as a defining moment in Nigeria's sports history.

The establishment of the NADC is in compliance with the National Anti-Doping Act of 2025, which aims to create a statutory body with legal authority to implement Nigeria's anti-doping obligations in line with the World Anti-Doping Code. Malam Shehu Dikko, chairman of the National Sports Commission, emphasized the board's responsibility to uphold the law and protect athletes, while also extending anti-doping education beyond elite competitions to grassroots levels.

The board's formation is seen as a landmark achievement in Nigeria's ongoing sports sector transformation, driven by the agenda of President Bola Tinubu's administration to enhance the country's international sports reputation.
