Kebbi High Court Judge Justice Faruk Bunza Released After Kidnapping

Justice Faruk Bunza of the Kebbi State High Court regained his freedom on Monday after being kidnapped from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area on July 26. He spent eight days in captivity, which raised significant concern among his family, colleagues, and the Kebbi State community.

The Kebbi State Police Command confirmed his release, stating that he has safely reunited with his family. Police spokesperson SP Bashir Usman indicated that investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the kidnappers, although the circumstances of his release were not disclosed.

The Nigerian Bar Association, led by President Afam Osigwe (SAN), condemned the kidnapping, labeling it a direct attack on the judiciary and the rule of law, and called for stronger protections for judicial officers. The incident has been described as a serious threat to the justice system, prompting a major security response across Kebbi State.
