Carmine Agnello Faces Kidney Donation or Prison Deadline

Carmine Agnello, the 39-year-old grandson of late Gambino crime boss John Gotti, has been ordered by a US federal judge to either donate a kidney to his mother, Victoria Gotti, or report to prison to serve a 15-month sentence for COVID-19 relief fraud. Agnello was initially scheduled to surrender on August 10, but his date was postponed due to his mother's health issues.

The kidney transplant was set for August 3 but was delayed because Victoria developed a serious infection. Agnello's lawyer, Robert Beltrani, stated that Agnello is ready to proceed with the donation once cleared for surgery.

Agnello requested to extend his prison surrender date to September 18, anticipating the transplant would occur by then. However, the court indicated that no further delays would be permitted unless the transplant occurs immediately.

Federal prosecutors opposed Agnello's requests, arguing that he could donate a kidney while in custody. Agnello pleaded guilty in 2024 to fraudulently obtaining over $1.1 million through Economic Injury Disaster Loans, misrepresenting his business's employee count and fund usage.
