Femi Adebayo's "KING KOSOKO" Approaches ₦60M Box Office

"KING KOSOKO: THE BATTLE FOR LAGOS" is approaching ₦60 million at the Nigerian box office and will celebrate this milestone with a special Silverbird Reel Talk screening on September 25 at Silverbird Galleria, Lagos. The film, released nationwide on August 28 and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, dramatizes the political struggles surrounding Oba Kosoko’s rise to the Lagos throne, including his conflict with Akitoye and British intervention.

The Reel Talk event, sponsored by Silverbird Television and Rhythm FM, will feature a screening followed by a live conversation with the director, producer, and cast, including lead actor Femi Adebayo. Tickets are priced at ₦15,000, which includes the movie ticket and refreshments.

Executive Producer Ayo Ajayi remarked that achieving this milestone in a slow cinema environment is significant, emphasizing the support for ambitious films rooted in Nigerian history. Directed by Adebayo Tijani, the film features an ensemble cast and explores themes of succession, power, loyalty, resistance, and colonial intervention.
