Kogi Government Starts Property Valuation for Redevelopment

The Kogi State Government has initiated property valuation in Okene Local Government Area as part of a redevelopment project at Idogido-Orietesu. TPL Kehinde Augustine Salihu-Otaru, the Director-General of the Kogi State Bureau of Lands, assured affected property owners of adequate compensation prior to the planned demolition.

He led a team to assess the value of lands and structures near the ongoing reconstruction of the Central Mosque, located opposite the palace of the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Tijani Mohammed Aneje. Salihu-Otaru emphasized the government's commitment to a smooth relocation process, ensuring that new settlements will be developed with essential amenities before residents are moved.

He addressed concerns regarding compensation for jointly owned properties, stating that the Bureau has engaged stakeholders to resolve potential disputes. Additionally, the Bureau is collaborating with the Asuwe Clan to acquire land for a new Government Reserved Area in Okene, with community leaders expressing support for the initiative and confidence in Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's leadership.
