Kogi Police Confirm Corpse Abduction on Expressway

The Kogi State Police Command confirmed the abduction of a corpse on July 9, 2026, while it was being transported from Lokoja to Otukpo, Benue State. The incident occurred along the Ochadamu-Ejul expressway when armed hoodlums attacked a Hummer bus conveying the corpse.

Following the attack, the police received reports and collaborated with military and vigilante groups to mobilize a swift response. They commenced a bush combing operation to rescue the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.

The abandoned vehicle and casket were recovered and evacuated to the Elemona Mortuary in Ejul. The police spokesperson, ASP Salisu Oyiza, stated that joint security operations have intensified in the area, with ongoing surveillance and patrols along major highways to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents.
