Kogi's Ultra Modern Market Set to Boost National Trade

The Kogi State Government is developing the Lokoja Ultra Modern Market, which is currently under construction on 25 hectares of land. This market is designed to accommodate traders from seven existing markets in Lokoja, providing a well-planned commercial environment that aims to enhance trade, improve safety, ease traffic congestion, and stimulate economic growth.

Kingsley Femi Fanwo, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, made these statements during an inspection of the project site on Monday. He described the market as a flagship initiative of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s administration, part of a broader Urban Renewal Agenda aimed at transforming Lokoja into a cleaner and more organized capital city.

The existing International Market at Nataco has been criticized for causing traffic and safety issues, which the new market aims to resolve. The Ultra Modern Market will feature various facilities, including open trading spaces, lock-up shops, technology hubs, banking facilities, and ample parking, positioning it as a national commercial hub.
