Kwankwaso Urges Yari to Reconsider APC Campaign Role

Rabiu Kwankwaso, the vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, has appealed to Abdul’aziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, to reconsider his acceptance of the role as Director-General of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election. This appeal was made in a statement on Sunday, following the announcement of the APC campaign council, which is chaired by President Bola Tinubu, with Vice-President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda as vice-chairmen.

Kwankwaso questioned Yari's decision to lead a campaign aimed at continuing the current administration, highlighting the persistent issues of insecurity, poverty, and unemployment affecting Nigerians. He expressed surprise that Yari would support a government under which many citizens continue to suffer.

Additionally, Kwankwaso raised concerns about the involvement of senior public officials in the campaign's fundraising structures, specifically mentioning Zacheus Adedeji and Tanimu Yakubu, questioning the implications for institutional neutrality and public trust.
