15 Dead, 17 Injured in Kwara Road Accident

On June 6, 2026, a tragic road accident occurred along the Ogbomosho-Oloru Expressway in Oko Olowo, Ilorin, Kwara State, claiming the lives of 15 individuals and injuring 17 others. The accident took place around 2:30 AM in front of the Ilorin Muslim Cemetery.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the incident, stating that the crash involved a DAF trailer with vehicle registration number GWL274XC, which was carrying 48 passengers. The accident was attributed to driver fatigue, as indicated by Taofeeq M.

Sanusi, the acting officer in charge of the Oko Olowo outpost. Injured victims were transported to Arewa Hospital and Baki Hospital for medical attention.

Kabiru Kazeem, the sector commander of the FRSC, visited the scene to coordinate rescue and recovery operations.
