DSS and Kwara Forest Guards Rescue Nine from Bandits

In a recent operation in the Obbo Aiyegunle, Ejiu Ora, and Osi axis of Ekiti LGA, three bandits were killed during a gun battle involving the Department of State Services (DSS), Kwara State Forest Guards, local hunters, and vigilantes. The operation resulted in the rescue of nine victims, including farmers who had been abducted from their farmlands and others previously kidnapped in Ekiti State.

Prince Dada Sunday, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman of Ekiti Local Government, confirmed that the kidnappers, numbering over ten, were intercepted while moving their captives. One victim sustained serious injuries from a machete attack while resisting abduction.

Owolabi Adebayo from the Kwara Forest Guards stated that the operation was intelligence-driven and emphasized the need for more operational equipment. Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, Ojo Adekimi, noted that the DSS oversees the forest guard in the state.

This operation adds to recent efforts against kidnapping gangs in the region.
