Kwara APC Loses 12 Executives After Senator's Defection

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State experienced a significant loss as 12 executive members from Gambari Ward 1, Ilorin East Local Government Area, resigned following the defection of Senator Saliu Mustapha from the party. The resignations occurred within hours of Mustapha's departure and included key positions such as the ward chairman, Aliyu Abdulhakeem, and the secretary, Abdulwaheed Adanla.

They communicated their decisions to the APC Chairman in Ilorin East, Habib Ajibola, on Friday. Ten additional members submitted a joint resignation letter, stating their intention to join Mustapha in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and support an emerging "rainbow coalition" for the upcoming 2027 general elections.

Abdulhakeem expressed gratitude for the experiences gained during his tenure, while Adanla pledged to hand over all party documents and properties. The resignations reflect a strategic shift within the local political landscape as members align with new political affiliations.
