Kwara Ministry Denies Bias Against NARTO Amid Dispute

The Kwara State Ministry of Transportation issued a statement denying allegations of intimidation and bias against the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO). The ministry, represented by Press Secretary Alabere Ahmed and Commissioner Lafia Aliyu Korasabi, emphasized its commitment to neutrality among transport unions.

They addressed concerns regarding a late-night visit by NARTO members and reiterated that the ministry has no special arrangements for any transport union. The ongoing dispute between NARTO and other unions, including the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and Tricycle Owners and Operators Association of Nigeria (TOAN), has led to legal action, with a court case still pending.

The ministry clarified that the recent impoundment of tricycles was not initiated by them but was a precautionary measure due to actions by other parties in the court case, aimed at preventing potential loss or damage. The government urged the public to disregard unsubstantiated claims against the ministry.
