Adeleke Suspends NURTW Operations in Osun Motor Parks

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate suspension of all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) in motor parks across the state. This directive was issued following a meeting of the Osun State Security Council on Thursday, chaired by Adeleke.

The state government aims to restore order and enhance security in motor parks due to rising security concerns. Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, stated that the decision was based on extensive discussions regarding security issues.

Governor Adeleke instructed the Nigeria Police Force and other security agencies to enforce the suspension and warned that anyone operating on behalf of the union would face arrest and prosecution. He clarified that the directive does not close the parks but specifically targets the union's activities.

Additionally, all forms of levy collection in the parks are suspended until further notice. To bolster enforcement, a Rapid Response Squad will be established to address security threats and ensure compliance with government directives.
