Mob Attack on KAROTA Officials After Traffic Accident

On Wednesday, a mob attacked three staff members of the Kano State Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA) after a traffic accident on Zaria Road in Kwanar Dawaki. The incident began when a trailer collided with a Sharon commercial bus that KAROTA personnel had stopped for a routine check.

The bus flipped multiple times, injuring several passengers. In response to the injuries, a group of angry youths attacked the KAROTA officials, inflicting serious injuries on them.

The truck driver responsible for the accident fled the scene amid the chaos. The Public Relations Officer of KAROTA, Abubakar Sharada, and the second-in-command of the patrol team, Ibrahim Ibrahim, provided details of the incident.

The Managing Director of KAROTA, Faisal Kabir, urged the public to respect uniformed personnel and emphasized their role in maintaining traffic order. He commended the staff for their dedication despite ongoing concerns from motorists regarding roadblocks and extortion by KAROTA officials.
