Kwara Senators Demand Review of APC Primaries Amid Grievances

Senators from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have called for a review of the party's recent primaries and the formation of a reconciliation committee to address growing grievances among members. In a communiqué issued after a joint session, the senators, including Saliu Mustapha, Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, and Sadiq Umar, expressed concern over the erosion of party cohesion and the controversies surrounding the recent governorship, senatorial, and House of Representatives primaries.

They noted that approximately 70 percent of lawmakers were unable to clear the screening exercise for the state House of Assembly, which they criticized as lacking merit and fairness. The senators urged the state leadership of the APC to work with the national committee to establish a high-level reconciliation committee within 30 days to reintegrate marginalized members.

They also highlighted the worsening insecurity in the state, exacerbated by rural banditry and kidnappings, which threaten agricultural activities and contribute to food inflation.
