Kwara Traditional Ruler Dies After Kidnapping Trauma

Oba Moses Oyinloye Iwedunmoye I, the traditional ruler of Igbesi community in the Isin local government area of Kwara, passed away early on September 12, 2023, after a brief illness in a private hospital. His death occurred just 16 days after his rescue from kidnappers on August 27.

The announcement was made by Bisi Fakayode, the National President of Omo Ibile Igbomina, who expressed sadness and prayed for the monarch's soul. His son, Prince Olasunkanmi, confirmed the news, stating that they had hoped for his recovery after his release.

Elder Olaitan Oyin Zubair, coordinator of the Kwara South Joint Security Watch, expressed sorrow over the loss, suggesting that the monarch's death might be linked to the trauma experienced during his abduction. The Igbomina Elders Council also commiserated with the family and community, stating that the death was a consequence of the recent kidnapping and urged government action against such crimes in Igbomina land.
