Bandits Abduct Baale's Wife in Kwara State Attacks

In a recent wave of attacks in Kwara State, suspected bandits abducted Iya Ayoka, the first wife of the Baale of Dabu, and several other residents, including women and a child. These incidents occurred between Friday night and Saturday in the southern and northern districts of the state, raising significant concerns about security.

The Kwara South Development Forum, represented by Secretary Olasehinde Oluwatoba and Convener Obashola Ridwan, issued a statement demanding the immediate rescue of Iya Ayoka, emphasizing that residents are unwilling to pay ransoms any longer due to financial strain. The forum highlighted that repeated kidnappings have severely impacted the community, with many residents previously contributing to ransom payments now struggling for basic necessities.

They criticized the Ifelodun Local Government chairman for inadequate responses to security concerns and accused the state government of downplaying the severity of the situation. The forum also renewed calls for the rescue of Babatunde Fasilat, a 23-year-old woman abducted in a prior attack on Wande community.
