Kwara Monarch and Wife Abducted by Suspected Bandits

In Kwara South, a traditional ruler was abducted during an attack in Igbesi around 11 pm on Saturday. The Kwara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ojo Adekimi, confirmed the abduction, stating that security agencies have initiated efforts to locate and rescue the monarch and other residents taken by the attackers.

As of Sunday, no ransom demand had been reported. Adekimi noted that the late hour of the attack complicated the assessment of the number of attackers involved.

Security operatives are actively tracking the perpetrators, with some rustled cattle recovered during the operation, although these were not linked to the abduction. In a separate incident, the first wife of the Baale of Dabu community, known as Iya Ayoka, was also kidnapped.

Alhaji Femi Yusuf, the chairman of Ifelodun Local Government Area, confirmed this incident and stated that security operatives are pursuing the abductors, describing the situation as isolated and noting improvements in local security.
