Shoretire Advocates for Accurate Labor Reporting in Abuja

At a one-day capacity-building training for members of the Labour and Employment Correspondents Association of Nigeria (LACAN) in Abuja, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shoretire, urged for accurate and timely labor reporting. He highlighted that labor issues are significant in national discourse and that effective labor reporting extends beyond just strikes and wage negotiations.

Shoretire described labor reporters as essential bridges between government, employers, workers, and the public, stressing the media's role in promoting informed dialogue and industrial harmony. He encouraged journalists to approach their work with fairness and objectivity, distinguishing between facts and opinions.

Shoretire expressed hope that the training would enhance participants' knowledge of contemporary labor issues and foster professional networks. He also acknowledged the contributions of the Head of the Press and Public Relations Unit, Ann Daniel, and other stakeholders in making the workshop successful.
