NLC Develops Digital Tool for Reporting Workplace Abuses

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), in partnership with the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), is creating a digital reporting platform to empower workers in Nigeria to document and report workplace rights violations. This initiative was revealed on Thursday in Abuja at the start of a two-day workshop focused on human and trade union rights.

The workshop, themed “From Violations to Justice: Strengthening the Nigeria Labour Congress to Document, Resist and Combat Trade Union Rights Abuses in Nigeria,” aims to equip workers and trade union representatives with skills to identify and report rights violations. NLC President Comrade Joe Ajaero, represented by Deputy NLC President Dr. Kabiru Ado Sani Minjibir, emphasized the need for stronger mechanisms to document abuses, citing Nigeria's ranking among the 10 worst countries for workers' rights in the 2025 ITUC Global Rights Index.

The proposed application will serve as a reporting mechanism for workers to document rights abuses, with Ajaero stressing the importance of recognizing and reporting such violations.
