Labour Party Denies Funding Crisis Amid Leadership Disputes

The Labour Party, under the leadership of Senator Nnenadi Usman, has refuted claims regarding a funding crisis impacting its operations. This response follows comments from former public secretary Toni Aken concerning the party's financial struggles.

Usman, supported by senior special adviser Ken Eluma Asogwa, clarified that Aken's departure was due to unrealistic expectations regarding the party's financial capabilities. Usman highlighted that the Labour Party does not have the resources comparable to those of the People's Democratic Party or the Progressive Congress, which have access to significant funding and appointments.

The party's leadership disputes were also mentioned, with Usman emphasizing that the ongoing issues should not be attributed to financial constraints. The Labour Party's leadership is recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, affirming Usman's position as the national chairman.
