LACSOP Launches Climate Resilience Initiative in Apapa

On August 12, 2026, the Lagos Civil Society Participation for Development (LACSOP) held a Town Hall Meeting in Apapa Local Government Area, Lagos State, to introduce its Citizens-Led Accountability Mechanism (CLAIM) aimed at empowering citizens to transform climate awareness into resilience and sustainable livelihoods. Barrister Ayo Adebusoye, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of LACSOP, represented Project Director Mrs. Dede Kadiri and emphasized that climate change impacts various sectors, including health and economic opportunities.

The project targets Apapa and Lagos Island, focusing on youth aged 18–35 as climate-change agents. Adebusoye addressed the waste and flooding crisis in Lagos, linking improper waste disposal to flooding issues that affect public health and sanitation.

The project employs a participatory approach, engaging local government, youth organizations, and community leaders to foster environmental sustainability. Young people have received capacity-building training to disseminate climate information within their communities.
