Lagos Launches Campaign Against Youth Cultism and Drug Abuse

Lagos State has initiated a campaign against cultism and drug abuse among youth, spearheaded by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF). The campaign, which will extend across all 57 local government areas, aims to curb crime and promote responsible citizenship among young people.

Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, the Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, emphasized the importance of community-driven interventions to prevent crime and empower youth with the right values.

The campaign aligns with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu's youth development agenda, which prioritizes education, entrepreneurship, and vocational training. Dr.

Mose Oladimeji will coordinate the campaign, which has already reached thousands of students and aims to discourage involvement in criminal activities. The initiative involves partnerships with the Nigeria Police Force, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, local government authorities, traditional rulers, religious organizations, and schools.

Recent years have seen a rise in cult-related violence in Lagos, prompting this proactive approach to create a safer environment for youth.
