Oyo Police Launch Anti-Cultism Campaign in Schools

The Oyo State Police Command initiated a campaign against cultism and other social vices in Ibarapa schools, targeting approximately 2,000 students. The campaign, part of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (Pocacov), was conducted on Tuesday during visits to three schools in the Ibarapa Central Local Government Area.

ASP Ayishat Mari Eriaremhien led the initiative, emphasizing the importance of avoiding cultism, illicit drugs, and other negative influences that disrupt academic progress and lead to crime. SP Moham Abubakar, part of the anti-cultism unit, highlighted the violent nature of cultism and its consequences.

ACP Ruth Otolorin, representing Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Ayodeji Abimbola, encouraged students to make good choices and avoid peer pressure. Hon.

Olukunle Adegbemi, a supervisory councillor for education, advised students against drug use and the importance of choosing friends wisely. The campaign aims to mentor youth and reduce the prevalence of social vices in society.
