LG Chairman Advocates for Empowerment of Traditional Rulers

Ham Aroyewun, the chairman of Igbogbo Baiyeku Local Council Development Area in Lagos State, called for a constitutional role for traditional rulers to enhance their influence in community development. This appeal was made during a traditional prayer program celebrating the 10th coronation anniversary of Oba Semiudeen Kasali.

Aroyewun emphasized that while traditional rulers play a vital role in grassroots development, their current constitutional status limits their effectiveness. He urged for a re-evaluation of the constitution to grant traditional rulers a more significant role in decision-making processes.

Former Lagos State House of Assembly member Adebimp Akinsola supported this call, highlighting the importance of traditional institutions in governance. Other dignitaries, including former council chairman Olusesan Daini and Olasunkanmi Long, praised Oba Kasali's leadership and his commitment to justice and peace within the kingdom.
