Lagos Mandates LASRRA Registration for School Enrolment

The Lagos State Government has announced that beginning with the 2026/2027 academic session, registration with the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) will be mandatory for all learners enrolling in both public and private schools. This directive was communicated by Adepeju Adeyemi, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Office of Education Quality Assurance, and is set to take effect from Monday, September 14, 2026.

The initiative, approved by Tolani Alli-Balogun, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, aims to create a comprehensive and verifiable database of learners in Lagos, enhancing planning, monitoring, and service delivery within the education sector. Schools are required to record each learner's LASRRA registration number in their admission and school records and to inform parents and guardians about this requirement.

Additionally, schools must ensure the confidentiality and security of learners' personal information. Dr. Sulaimon Olagoke Ogunmuyiwa, Director-General of the Office of Education Quality Assurance, stated that support for sensitization, registration, and verification would be provided to schools, parents, guardians, and learners.
