Lagos State Launches Archery Program in Schools

The Lagos State government has initiated a campaign to expand archery in public secondary schools as part of its effort to develop grassroots sports talent. The program, organized by the Lagos State Sports Commission in partnership with the Lagos State Archery Association, commenced at Sango Junior Secondary School within the Dairi Farm School complex in Agege.

The initiative will extend across the state's six educational districts. Emmanuel Oyelek, Vice Chairman of the Lagos State Archery Association, stated that the program aims to institutionalize sports within the school system and identify future champions.

The mentorship development clinic will train 20 game masters and mistresses across educational districts to train students in archery. The program is designed to establish archery centers in each educational district, providing structured training opportunities for pupils.

Notable student Gabriel Nojeh, who has already won national honors, encourages peers to embrace archery. The program is expected to run for two weeks across the six educational districts.
