Lagos State Revives Monthly Cadet Table Tennis Tournament

The Lagos State Table Tennis Association (LSTTA) has announced the revival of its monthly cadet table tennis tournament, set to commence on Saturday, August 23, at the Lagos Country Club in Ikeja. This initiative aims to discover and nurture young table tennis talents across Lagos by providing consistent competition and development opportunities.

LSTTA Chairman Tunji Lawal emphasized the importance of regular competition for young players to develop their potential. He noted that the tournament would help cadets build confidence, improve match temperament, and gain valuable competitive experience.

Lawal referenced players like Matthew Kuti, Muiz Adegoke, and Sultan Agunbiade, who progressed through similar developmental structures before joining the national team. The tournament will also allow coaches to assess players under pressure and promote healthy rivalry among cadets.

Outstanding performers may receive closer attention from the association for selection to Lagos State teams. Lawal stated the long-term goal is to create a sustainable pathway for table tennis development in Lagos and Nigeria.
