Lagos Seals i-Fitness Gym for Sewage Discharge Violations

On June 23, 2026, the Lagos State government, through the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO), sealed off the i-Fitness gym located at Jakand Roundabout in the Lekki Peninsula area of Eti Osa. This action was taken due to allegations that the gym was indiscriminately discharging raw sewage into the public drainage system, which posed a serious risk to public health and constituted a public nuisance.

Tokunbo Wahab, an official from the LSWMO, stated that such practices violate environmental regulations and that enforcement actions are necessary to ensure compliance with wastewater management laws. The government reiterated the importance of proper wastewater management practices and warned that individuals or organizations found in violation would face appropriate sanctions, including possible prosecution under relevant environmental laws.

This incident is part of a broader enforcement initiative targeting environmental violations across Lagos State.
